About Moments.
Under the company name of "Moments" (Marple’s own Musical Entertainments) a group of 10 hand-picked solo singers has been assembled, all with very considerable experience of taking leading roles in musicals in the Stockport and Tameside areas. Highly talented performers are involved, many of them members of the Carver Theatre. The will be under the musical direction of Debbie Woodruff, ably supported by an experienced team of administrative and backstage personnel. For reasons which will become clear in a moment, everyone involved will be giving their time on an unpaid basis.
In September we commence rehearsals for "A Grand Night for Singing", a much revamped collection of some of the best-known melodies of Rodgers & Hammerstein from hugely successful shows such as "Oklahoma", "King & I", "Sound of Music" and "Carousel", mixed with musical numbers from some of the duo’s lesser-performed shows. "A Grand Night for Singing" became a much-acclaimed Broadway production in its own right. Our first production will be in the Carver Theatre over 3 nights in January 2011, followed by a booking in Yorkshire, after which we plan to take the show to other venues (predominantly in the Greater Manchester area.)
