Billy Liar by Keith Waterhouse
Directed by John Woodruff
Living in 1960 in a northern town with his parents and grandmother, Billy Fisher is reaching the end of his teenage years and so far they haven’t amounted to very much. He tries to cope with his unbearably dull existence by living an alternative fantasy life. When fantasy and reality collide, as they so often do, Billy has to invent his own version of the truth. Those of ungenerous spirit might call this lying.
